Jessica Sweeney: Midpoint Presentation


Opening Paragraph:
Technology has wildly improved and electronic devices have abundantly increased to the point where the 21st century American school-aged youth have become dependent on media. Many Americans believe technology helps improve students learning and knowledge while other people believe technology is hurting the students learning. The reason why some people are not in favor of using technology to educate is because they believe it is affecting students' social life, their ability to interact in person with one another, and it also decreases their attention span. Since the world is turning into a media dense world, other believers see advantages of using technology to teach will help students become more successful later on in life because they will be very familiarized with using technology. Overall, even though children should become technologically literate, using technology to educate is where a main controversy arises.

  • The controversy with using technology to educate.
2: Reasons why people are in favor of using technology to help educate.
3: Details about peoples' beliefs that it is inevitable that oncoming generation will have to be technology literate.
4: Statistics showing how much technology is actually used to educate school-aged youth.
5: Reasons why people are not in favor of using technology to educate.
6: Details about how the youths' brain is negatively affected with the overdose of technology (in school and outside of school).
7: How parents educate their children; using technology or not. What ages use the most technology for education and why?
8: Conclusion:
  • The world is becoming more and more overwhelmed with technology.
  • Technology can benefit school-aged youth but can also have negative effects on students.
